As 50+ year incumbent Jim Costa continues to cast votes that hurt Central Valley families, law enforcement veteran, U.S. Navy veteran, and businessman Michael Maher offers hope to rebuild the California Dream for Central Valley families and hits Costa hard on his failure to relate to constituents’ needs.
Fresno, CA - Today, the Maher for Congress campaign released a campaign ad to be aired across all broadcast and digital platforms, laying the groundwork to defeat 50+ year incumbent Congressman Jim Costa. Maher’s new ad introduces voters to a younger and vibrant path forward.
The ad cites Maher’s roots in the Valley: born and raised by a pastor and school librarian, his service to our country, and his love for the Valley. Maher also goes on to display a deep and personal understanding of the issues facing Valley families.
“Our economy is in trouble. Families can’t afford the basics,” said Maher. “Rent, gas, groceries, let alone the ability to buy a home. Jim Costa? His votes in Congress have only made things worse – adding to inflation that has many families living from paycheck to paycheck.”
Maher’s ad comes on the heels of a Gallup poll showing Republicans taking a commanding lead amongst all Americans, citing strength in dealing with the leading issues of the economy, national security, and immigration. An internal poll conducted by the globally recognized polling firm Cygnal says 56% of voters surveyed in the 21st district believe that 50 years in politics is too long and it’s time for a change. It also revealed that 36% of Democrats and 61% of Independent voters say that it is time to pass the torch. It also shows Maher is widening his lead on the informed ballot at 49% compared to Costa’s 32%. Most importantly, even after 50 years, Costa is at a record low of 22% favorability.
